Is this a Sartorio peacoat, double breasted sport coat, or something else entirely?

Just purchased this online (size 36 woohoo) but I'm not sure if I want to keep it because I can't tell what it is, and may be too fashion forward for me. is this anything classic or just some weird hybrid lovechild?

Looks like something which might have been worn by the wait staff
(luncheon shift) on the old P&O ships en route to India during the
    inter war period:

well, its not really a sportcoat if you assume a sportcoat should have a chest pocket and waist pockets. Its not really a peacoat as it looks very light and barely covers your belt. I don't like it but for what reason did you buy it and is that reason still valid?
