Tool ittel to late. Better to have Apple buy them outright.

Apple buys companies that they can use, I'm not sure BB has anything Apple needs that they can't do on their own. BB has been trying to play catch up to Apple and not the other way around.

Still their hardware is one of the best if not the best.

My friend who did co-op with RIM told me that a lot of the offices right now are in the process of selling off all their stuff. Needless to say, morale is quite low.

Plus two.

Apple won't buy. Nokia or Microsoft might bite - they are struggling in their own rights against Apple and Android

I've been using Blackberrys since the mid-2000s and I still love them.
Just upgraded to the new 9930 and it is, by far, the best device Blackberry has ever made. Unfortunately, I think it came too late. I am thrilled with the device but so many around me wonder what I am thinking having stayed with BB. There are also very few apps. Effectively, both consumers and app developers have abandoned the platform (truly a chicken & egg problem).

Everyone around me has iPhones and Droids. They are great as portable laptops (media, apps, browsing, games) but they are not good phones or email devices. Typing is too difficult, there are too many screens to flip through until you get to the phone. I don't know a single ex-BB user who now uses iPhones and Droids who won't readily admit that phone and typing are better on the Blackberry. They are simply compromising because they like the "toy" aspects of these other devices.

Hopefully someone will buy RIM and turn around the Company.

i agree (well not early 2000s but i started with the pearl 8130  ), plus while others are doing it now (imessage, for example) bbm is still convenient since those i care to keep up with the most still have it. 9930 is a beast indeed love using it much more than iphone

There is no reason to believe that RIM will come back. They haven't released an innovative product in far too many years. And turning out crap like the Playbook doesn't give me any hope for them.

Their new leadership needs to pull off some serious miracles a la Jobs in 1997. But I don't see it happening. Android and Apple will continue to lead the way for the foreseeable future. I love my iPhone 4 and if we get a redesign this fall, I'll be pre-ordering.

I'd be surprised if RIM is really more secure than modern secure email protocols which are constantly scrutinized and patched.

I also love the BB and no question typing on a full keyboard on a BB is far superior than the droid or Iphone.
