I only own boots (well, and a pair of New Balances, but they're ugly and only for running). This is becoming somewhat impractical, and I need a pair of sneakers. Unfortunately, I hate most sneakers. I kind of sort of like Chucks, but $35 for a pair is just more than they're worth, and the complete lack of any support bothers me. I'm not sure how to size them with insoles, either (should you still go a half size down if you're going to use insoles? should the insoles be sized to your normal size? what kind should you even buy, and how much are they?). That, and, as everyone knows, nothing is any good if other people like it. I also thought about Blackspots. I prefer Chuck his to lows, but the design is a bit better, the construction is ostensibly far superior, and they're not made with slave labor, which is kind of a plus. The significant price premium isn't, though, and neither is having anything to do with Adbusters and its bullshit. Still, I'm wondering if they're worth it. On a related note, this picture is just ******* hilarious on so many levels.
Part of my problem with sneakers is that they're all logoed to hell and I can't stand logos on anything I wear. I need help. Budget ceiling's a hundred, so no three trillion dollar Common Projects, either.
