Es never have an especially good shape. But they look much better on the feet.

This #8 last, while a really nice shape (for AE that is), seems to totally unsuited to a wholecut, IMO. The 8 has a nice taper to it, but, as many have experienced, a pretty voluminous heel and waist area. Without further detailing the last is there, on its own, and I don't think it'd be too pretty. The #8 last, in wholecut form, reminds me of a pair of pants w/ a 40" waist and a 7" hem.

Waxing poetic, Joel?

I ordered a pair of lamberts. I've been eyeing them since they first came out. Nearly grabbed the Bristol (I think?)--the gusset-sided plain-toe slip on, which is also a pretty good looking shoe. But I couldn't decide whether I'd really wear them. Good deal on the Copley too, if anyone needs tuxedo shoes. I've been buying too many shoes. Who was it who had the self-help sig? I may have to poach that for my own.

I feel like I should defend the westgates a bit -- they're great wholecuts; much more shapely and sleek in person than the photos suggest:

To answer an earlier post, they're pretty true to size -- I wear a 9D in both westgate and park avenue. The westgate is a little roomier, but still a good fit.
