This piece of furniture would work well in my apt, but it's expensive and I have no idea what fair value is

- brand = Domain, a now out of business furniture store along the lines of restoration hardware I guess, but probably higher end

- it's in great shape, a wealthy couple owned it for a few years

- it's massive, nearly 90 inches tall x 60 inches wide x 24 inches deep

- all shelves and parts included

what is this piece worth?

pics below, obv one piece goes on top of the other

Distressed like that on purpose? ugh...

I'm sure the market for that stuff is pretty significant, so expect high prices.

I don't have much to base this on but here goes...

If it is from a reputable dealer I would expect it to be close to $2,000 and if it is from someplace like craigslist then maybe like $800-$1000?

I think your best bet is finding someplace that sells what you want brand new or finding someone that can build it and see how much that would cost. If you are saving a significant amount then maybe it's a good idea buying something that you don't think is perfect.

Thanks. Being sold by a "organizer /downsizer " who is helping a wealthy client adjust to being in a smaller home. She posts this stuff on her website and also on Craigslist. So she's not quit a dealer but she does sell a lot of furniture.

Asking price is $1200

Sounds like a reasonable price if it is as well made as you say. Just make sure you like how it looks and you're not just interested because it sounds like a good deal.
