How long do you anticipate BWR taking you? 90g of carbs per hour is an awful lot if you’re out there for less than a day. During RAAM, my wife was targeting350-450 calories per hour, for eleven days. For one day races, you don’t need to go too crazy, especially if you’re adequately fueld before the ride.
90g is probably too much, but the biggest issue I’ve had on 90 mi+ days has been bonking. If I can train my gut to accept that much, I can dial it back as needed, but I can’t go the other way if I train to a much lower number. During today’s 2-hour workout, I took in about 90g/hour, mostly in the form of drink mix. Felt pretty bloated after 90 min, so I will try more gels and less mix next time.

16.2 miles this morning with 900'+ of elevation gain, which is pretty good for these parts.

I did the first 10 miles around 11:30/mile pace then got progressively faster for each mile after that.

4 miles on the road, finishing at the park where my kids were playing with friends. Saw the mom of one of my oldest kids friends out running too. This neighborhood gets smaller the more people I meet. Temps were in the upper 30s.

Similar day for me. Kinda rushed out of the house without really thinking about the ride we were doing, and was unprepared on the nutrition front. I bailed out at Orinda to take BART one stop to Rockridge near where I parked my car while everyone else headed back up and over the hills to Oakland. They were really driving the pace, and I was knackered. 32 miles

Tuesday morning fast group ride then coffee. Pretty chilly (for us) in the mid 40s. Got a puncture and tubeless sealant closed it so quick I didn't even notice till my friend said I had fresh sealant on my seatpost

345w normalized for the 45 minute fast part

I love tubeless! A friend who recently converted was complaining because she got a puncture which didn’t seal, and multiple people countered that since going tubeless, they pretty much never get stopped by flats anymore. I don’t miss rides with multiple stops to put in a new tube.

Nice job breaking 1k again! I know a lot of guys who never have haha (though they have smoked me on hills)

Favorite lunch loop temporarily closed from rain damage, had to detour
