8 very cold miles this morning at 8:38/mile pace.

Another 8.3 miles today. Colder this morning but I was warmer while running and the buff around my neck froze.

I got in 11.3 miles yesterday and the temps were about 8° with a windchill around -4°. I was moving pretty good the final few miles and really worked up a sweat. My buff was frozen absolutely solid around my neck when I finished up and I couldn’t get it up over my head. I had to wait about 10 minutes for it to thaw out.

Also, when I was on yesterday’s run I had to squeeze between a gate and a fence post to get into the gardens and boarding school campus I wanted to run through (I wasn’t trespassing, the entrance is just closed to cars on the weekend). I had my hand on the post for about 1 second and my mitten instantly froze to it. I thought it was about to rip my fancy new Tracksmith mittens but thankfully I was able to work it loose with just a little pulling.

1.5 mile ride each way to league yesterday and about 3 miles while playing. At the end of games, noticed my Forerunner 645 Music had a broken lug. Huge bummer. Apparently this is a common issue. Requested an exchange and dropped it off with UPS yesterday. I was also having issues with the start/stop button getting mushy and not responding as much. They don't have any in stock at the moment to send to me, so bummed about that, but happy they're covering return shipping and shipping back to me once it's back in stock.

20.5 mile ride today on my usual loops through the park. Even slower time than my last ride, 90ish minutes. More weaving than usual because they started to throw down salt for the storm rolling through now and had to slow down/stop three times for red lights. Forgot my heart rate monitor, but had my Vivosmart on and looks like I was in the 160bpm for my ride, which is pretty normal, but felt tougher than that. Wish Garmin Connect could overlap the Vivosmart and 130 Plus to add the heart rate data to my ride.

Had a fun race on Sunday, our team had 7 riders and my job was to cover attacks and try to get in a breakaway and to help our sprinter if it came down to a field sprint. Wound up being a field sprint and we got 3rd and 5th, I finished in the group for 21st out of 77 starters after helping position the last couple laps

Video from the winner, you can see me a couple times at 1:09 (neon jersey on the left #161) and 2:45

Ha! I watched that video yesterday. Nice job!

How do you like racing against the Wiliams brothers? I have seen a wide variety of opinions about them.

Thanks! It's hard to put into words but people definitely have mixed feelings. I'm on pretty good terms with them and have been racing in the same local field since 2013 so I'm used to how they operate. They're some of the smartest/strongest domestic crit racers and I would say they're very assertive, confident, and have the legs to back it up. In local races they're definitely the ones to beat and people get psyched out but I like to see it as a challenge as they're just human. Tactics-wise, they aren't hesitant to elbow or body check you and sometimes it's debatable whether it was warranted, but it's generally pretty safe or they put you in a position where you have to decide to crash or pull the brakes.

Nothing so exciting from me. After a 4-day break to monitor whatever injury it is I have, I decided to go out anyway, because running doesn't seem to affect it. 13.2km, long run pace, 1:10:37, a bit slower because everything was packed snow even on the main road. That's 5:21/km (8:35/mile).

Thanks for sharing your perspective. That's probably the most balanced take I've ever read. ? Mostly I read that they're either the second coming or mean bullies. Your description of the Williams brothers/Legion maps pretty well to some of the most successful teams in the car racing series I'm in.

Good luck this season! Feel free to share race reports because I'm definitely interested.
