Hi All;

I've just replaced my Router which has given me 3 years of excellent service and it dawned on me "How will I dispose of it"?

1) pour water on it
2) have an official "De-Commissioning" ceremony
3) Cremation

What would you do?

While some may call it prosaic or uninspired, I personally feel that smashing with a hammer is a classic and timeless way to dispose of unwanted electronics.

A friend of mine and I prized apart his old Mac laptop once he had replaced it. It was interesting.

How about giving it to your local Goodwill or other charities? I'm sure it can be put to good use.

Otherwise, keep it as a back up.

I'd choose #2. With a ribbon-cutting ceremony as well (for the new router). Invite the local press.

Then maybe something practical like DNW suggests.

I throw it away, and then I go make a sandwich.

I usually pry it apart and look inside... then realize ive completely trashed it in the process and trash it.

I once smashed a US Senator's blackberry with a hammer after he was done with it.

Secured disposition of US government property, caveman style.

Campaign property-- hence the destruction. Couldn't let it fall into enemy hands.

I keep them in a closet and take them out when I go plinking every couple of months.
