i just bought a pair of church's in oak brown and beige canvas, on sale in their store in hongkong. pictures later. these are my first pair of spectators, and honestly they are not the type one would find wearing in our part of the woods.

thing is, how do i keep them clean? i already tried polishing the leather part, and its kind of tricky trying to avoid the canvas part. and how about the canvas? is there any kind of treatment to keep it clean? my friend suggested i use some 3M scotchgard, but i'm afraid it might make the canvas a tad darker.

Just use a cloth wrapped around your finger to apply the polish; that gives you more control than using a brush. You can always use some low-tack masking tape to protect the canvas.

You can get shoe protection spray (which is essentially Scotch-Guard). I don't know whether or not it will darken the canvas.

Better to have the canvass a little darker than to be susceptible to staining.

thanks all! my silly friend advised me to avoid soysauce as one drop on it and the shoes are ruined. being an ethnic chinese, a dimsum lover, and having my dad partly own a chinese restaurant; this doesnt bode well with my usual trips. then again, i found these spectators attractive so i made the jump. forgot to take a pic earlier, i'll share it with you over the weekend.

no offense taken, skalogre. actually i didnt know that the photo webpage i was using doesnt work with pc's other than my own, because of the password recognition. so i should thank you for that.
