Hong Kong, Shanghai, or Beijing?

Part of the MBA program I'm entering in the fall is a mandatory overseas trip in May 2007. It's approximately 10 - 12 days in a pacific rim country (or countries in some cases). I've never been to China, and if I choose China I'm limited to one of three choices:

-Hong Kong & Shenzhen
-Shanghai
-Beijing (and possibly Seoul, S. Korea)

I'd love to hear advice from other forum members who've visited or lived in these cities.

Beijing has a lot of historical stuff to see. Shanghai, less, but it's still a huge fun city. Hong Kong is a more modern city than any of the mainland ones and has plenty of stuff to see. Shenzhen is good to live in but worthless for tourism.

HK is also the most expensive of the cities but if you're only going for two weeks it shouldn't be a huge difference. Also keep in mind that Jantzen and Chan are both in HK (though Chan also has Shanghai shops). I'd say go to HK unless you really want to see the historical stuff in Beijing.

Hong Kong is the most fun to live in, but there isn't much to do as a tourist. It's a glorious eating and shopping city. Beijing definitely has more historical value, and while Shanghai does not, there are many cities nearby (within a few hours drive) that have pleasant sights and monuments worth seeing. It also has, in my opinion, better food and is more comfortable.

Thanks for the replies so far. I should mention that much of the trip will be spent visiting various businesses in the area, so I imagine that foraging around the city will be left to weekends and afternoons/evenings.
