can the same effect be achieved with a spread collar or does it have to be a button down?

The last week or so ...
Achillus got mobbed for his blue jacket/brown pants fit ...

There was talk of Occupy SF and Neapolitan DB drama ...

Interspersed with talk of ties with boners ... mine obviously has none ...

Crusty rocked quite a few 3 pieces ... much to the joy of many

and the FooCuff was also heavily deliberated in some quarters...

It's starting to get cold, last days for that quilted jacket...

This could be the cover shot for a Master's thesis on "Why Men Should Dress Well in Autumn." Outstanding.

I don't know if this is related at all, but I've recently started having shirts made with a regular collar (not spread) because I almost never wear a tie. I find that the regular spread give more of a collar from the profile view when I wear them open.

At the moment I only own spread collars so that is why I asked.

I think the photos I quoted of PG are of button down collars and spread collars. It all depends on the length of the color I assume for it to sit correctly when left unbuttoned.

I just want hope to avoid the collar popping out of the sweater/jacket like in the 70's.
