Despite the fact that you refer to this as a FU jacket I think the color compliments you wonderfully.

Thank you Sir! I guess it would be better described as "unconventional".

"Funny" Friday. - Sorry for poor quality, I had to take a selfie with my iphone instead of using my usual camera.

This is beautiful, and I wanted to save it before I disappeared it.

@Sprezz: that knot looks like it might show up on satellite photos

Derek & Elduderino (best name ever!) thanks for the love. Fortunately, my inner Don Johnson died a timely death right around the time they released "Miami Vice, The Movie". LOL

The ghost of DJ did a nice cameo in "Django" though.

Yeah, I actually realized that while uploading the picture. I really hope it looked better this morning, and that it just got worse during the day.

I usually spend a few seconds giving a perfect "triangular" shape to my Windsor knot in the morning, unfortunately during the day it can get ruined by working, driving or other activities. I also think that the perspective and the iPhone's distortion make it look bigger than how it actually is.

Here's a picture, taken in the morning and with a nice camera, of the same knot and a very similar tie:

Out of curiosity, why do you prefer the windsor to half windsor (or 4IH)

4IH is pretty much the norm here in Italy. I'm not saying it looks bad; it's the first (and only) knot my dad taught me how to tie, when I was young, and that's the only knot I've used until a couple of years ago. I just think it lacks in terms of 'personality' and 'shape' compared to the windsor. I still use it once in a while when I'm not happy with how a Windsor looks on a specific tie. (I also think it looks a bit asymmetrical and informal, but maybe that's just me. For some reasons I hate skinny ties, and the 4IH somehow reminds me skinny ties, so I'm never 100% happy with it. But again, this is just my personal taste.)

I can't really talk about the half Windsor because I tried it few times and, since I wasn't really happy with the results, I never spent much time 'practicing' on it. I might give it a try in the future though.

    -

I forgot to add that 75% of my shirts have wide spread collars, so a Windsor knot, being a bit wider, looks better.

I must say your dad is a wise man: He taught you the only tie knot a man needs.

If you think the 4IH makes a too skinny knot, try the Prince Albert knot. Its a 4IH with one more wrap.
