I agree a bit more contrast would be helpful here, but I don't think it's egregiously lacking, either.

I agree. And the scarf works. There's a good texture contrast, and it's good to see a jacket that differs from the OneJacket checks.

My first post-StyleForum jacket is going to be a brown herringbone in P&H's Glorious Twelfth, partly due to your advocacy of brown over gray as a building block. I'm looking forward to it.

I do like the tapered look on a lot of people around here, though.

Tapering is a fad, and does NOT always work, from personal experience

Combined with your usual old man style it makes an odd hybrid. I think it's mostly a matter of contrast balance. The overly sober color contrast of the main clothing items is unbalanced by the strong contrast with the accessories. It's actually starting to grow on me the more I look at it. It would be better with tan/chestnut shoes.

i think a pair of jeans, different sunglasses and different colored gloves matching the colors of the shoes would bring this back from the other side of the cliff.

obviously other people seem to see the good in it (which doesnt surprise me), but this is disappointingly bad; anyway i look at it.
