Regarding raincoats, I recently attempted to get a raincoat ‘reproofed’ having seen a dry cleaner that offered the service.

However, they were reluctant to reproof mine - a poly cotton Aquascutum. They said they first wash the coats before the reproof and were worried about shrinkage.
I would have thought that a poly cotton would have been less likely to have shrunk than a pure cotton raincoat…

Well Mr K here are the 4 pairs I wore the more this autumn. I am totally SWD these days. WFH all the time. I like to walk a lot in the city, so I wear those for practical reasons: comfy and soft/flex/air soles. Occasionally I wear other shoes of course. The DM MiE steeds are my daily choice. They are incredibly comfy and sturdy. I’ve got the red ones for more than 10 years. They are worn out in the inside and the soles are like smooth tires though.
The black Jordans are for sports.
The DB are for sunny days only (the crepe sole is dangerous when it’s raining but you know that)

I am spending less and less time in CM nowadays - perhaps once a week if I have a meeting or go into the office. Although today I'm in the office in a navy lambswool crew-neck, bd, grey flannel trousers and Weejuns.

I rather like it when shoes become a bit worn and mould to the foot, but we think of that as the 'English way'!

Well you can see mine as the old Parisian way. Moulded, well worn, a bit dirty, alive and kickin’ !

Here’s ours, this Year we have deviated from our glass and silver baubles theme and bought a Paul Smith bauble as a “statement piece” 🥳 at the top of the tree.

Makes and models?

I don't think a loafer would be practical in December.

The Tyrolean shoe seems to have a square front.
First Image:
Left - The 'James Finch' by Cheaney, made for a shop in Chelmsford of that name (a wonderful emporium, now gone)
Top - The Ashton in dark brown grain, by Charles Tyrwhitt. Made in England, probably by Barker.
Bottom - Berwick leather and suede Belgian loafer

Second image:
Clockwise from top left -
Novesta GATs
Bass weejuns
Church's Glen, made in Italy
Florsheim Imperial long-wings

Yes, the Church's do have a slightly squared-off toe.

I do wear loafers on a fine winter day on occasions.

I wanted a new pair of black dry/raw aspect jeans. I love 501s in that style (and got an old one) but they don’t do them anymore. I finally found a pair of the Uniqlo (again) collab with Helmut Lang they released last year, reduced to 60% off. Just received them. Good quality. Fit and length are good.

I have a Berwick loafer not that one. Well made, good value - but in summer I am more likely to wear desert boots or wallabies.

The brogues are interesting. I would quite like a C&J Pembroke in dark scotch grain but they are rather expensive and I have enough shoes anyway.

Winter rain means veldtschoen boots and shoes come out with ski socks. Klemen padror too despite the squeaky soles.

You are doing well to be still working.
