I have a drawer full of the ~3/4" wide fabric that accompanies most European made trousers. I once asked my alterations tailor what this was for, and he essentially shrugged it off as unnecesary.
What are the benefits, if any, of having this fabric sewn in at the bottom hem?
Is it to be sewn in between the pants fabric or on the inside leg outside the pants fabric (if that makes sense)?
