Basically, I've been trying to upgrade my style lately and would like invest in a blue blazer that will be classically stylish without being boring. I'm willing to spend between $600-800. Does anyone have any suggestions about what I should try (i.e. brands, fits, etc)?
I'm a 38R, just under 6 ft.
There's a pic of what I'd probably want it to look like in the attachments.
and here's the link if the pic doesn't work. http://men.style.com/gq/features/sli...ay=false&cnt=1

Perhaps, but I see them at places like Marshalls and Off Fifth often.

I agree that the "Classic Blue Blazers" are not put on sale as much as most items in that they have a very long shelf life, and don't have to be discounted as much as most seasonal items.

If i'm looking at non sale items how much is it going to cost to get something like the picture?

looks like the blazer has swelled edges on the lapels. brooks brothers, jpress and southwick all feature details in some of their blazers. the buttons are kissing and more suit coatish than classic blazer. you could always replace buttons and sew them yourself.

That D&G in the picture is cotton. You'll likely want wool. The text accompanying the picture also suggests blue/black buttons. That's probably fine, but also runs the risk of looking a bit too orphan suit coat-ish. For a blazer, I'd prefer something a bit more distinctive, like MOP or marbled horn or something. Just a matter of taste, obviously.
But if you want a wardrobe staple, fairly classic blazer, make sure it's wool rather than cotton.
