Help me choose a pair of boots for this winter!

I have no idea why people would wear clunky looking uncomfotable boots to work. A nice refined looking leather low boot with leather soles is so much better. Wear galoshes over them when it's wet.

My vote would be for Red Wing Gentleman Traveler in black cherry (9011) or cigar (9016). I kind of dig the Beckman (9010) too, but the moccasin toe is kind of clunky and not as suitable for more dressed-up occasions.

There's also Cheaney's FS029 (not a stock model; you have to ask for it by name), if you like your boots with broguing.

edit: why are we helping this person choose his boots for last winter?

Have fun wearing leather soles on slushy wet tiles that are wet for most if not all winter long. Suggesting galoshes over them is silly if you live where there's snow.
