Haiku always have a seasonal reference, otherwise they are technically called Senryu (川柳) and should have an ironic twist.

A haiku (more or less):

春雨や
俳句の戦争は
びっしょりじゃ

A light spring rain falls
The haiku battle is on
And drenched to the skin

A senryu:

インスピレーション
ないことないが
これ書いた

Inspiration
It's not that I lack it, but
Still, I wrote this
