Bourbon Suede Gunboats today:

(And for some reason, every color in this pic is much lighter than it is IRL...)

Just got an email from Heddels who has an online shop at https://shop.heddels.com/

They have a few Grant Stone models on the site and are offering 15% off right now with code preview15 for anyone who is interested :)

I think I might pick up some black calf!
Not bad, the Bourbon Suede Diesel is the real sleeper deal at Heddels, with 15% off, takes it down to around $250 and that's a steal.

I have worked with Nick at Heddels for some time now and he is truly great. When they said their online shop was opening up we were really excited to part of it.

When it comes to Kudu, I can totally understand why some don’t find it attractive. It’s basically the total opposite of a tight-grain leather that has a smooth surface and sheen.

Its a unique article. CFStead’s tannage is very good at showing the highs and lows along with the scarring that won’t be found on bovine leather. Antelope skins are quite soft in general which is one of the selling points but can be thin. Kudu has a heavier weight so it can be used on GYW products without any concern. So it’s really a soft article that is tough and has a raw aesthetic feel. We chose this light grey color because it highlights the imperfections unlike a darker color. It should look really interesting after a season of wear.

God damnit I really don't need another pair right now. @audog keeps trying to persuade me into those bourbon diesels though.

In the last 2 months I've bought a pair of Red Wings, 2 pairs of GS PTBs and 2 pairs of White's Main Streets. My wife will murder me if I get another pair.
I don't want to be involved in your demise, so hold off on the boots. Or, get her something that arrives the same day as the boots to make her happy. The boots may be there for a while, wife is going to be around longer, and you need to enjoy time with her, while wearing Bourbon Suede Diesels :)

How do the bourbon suedes do in the elements? This time of year in MN it’s a slushy mess.

I always, repeat always, treat my new suede shoes/boots with Tarrago Nanospray, doesn't impact the nap or color of the suede, but water just rolls off of them once treated. If treated, and since on a rubber sole, they should be fine. Suede is a very resilient leather, and although many consider it "delicate" it is actually pretty robust. Allow to dry, brush and good to go. I wouldn't want a pair of suede boots to be my main "walking through slush/snow/rain to work" boot, but a normal outing won't hurt it a bit IMHO.

Good suede is way more durable than people realize (cheap suede is the opposite), especially with the Nano spray or Saphir's Invulner. It can also be shampoo'd when it gets messy, which seems/feels super-counter-intuitive but works great.

I have shampoo'd a pair of Alden suede before, works great and they dried wonderfully and looked great. Haven't tried the Saphir Invulner, may have to use it on next pair of suede, assuming there is one.......and I'm relatively sure there will be :)
