I'm just partial to Conti, which by the way, I lost when I got my new Zipps as they're not cleared for hookless rims. Why are you going down to 25s? 30 or 32 is the way. Actually lower rolling resistance and also more comfy with lower pressure required.
I just listed what comes standard on the bike. No idea how it compares.

I mis-read things. That's 25mm rim interior, which is what my Zipps are, and you were talking about the rims. Yeah, those are awesome rims and I thought about them. What headed me to the Zipps was about 50-60% savings and I just wanted to mix things up and not have all Trek/Bontrager stuff. Those are incredible rims you're getting.

As to the OEM rubber, that's what mine came with. The Contis are way better.

I'm sure I'll get into the minutiae later! Focusing on pedals and shoes now.

Going with clips I think. Never used them before, though.

Old school!

I'm sure the Trek store will point me to the upper tier of gear. They are good at that. :bounce2:

I bought a pair of their Velocis shoes and have been pretty happy with them. I have to say I'm glad I ended up back with Trek, after a mere 25 or so year hiatus, as it's been a good experience.

I have Specialized S-Works for road and MTB. Sometimes, the extra expense is worth it.

Try to keep myself from being a total gear-head!

I'm a Sidi guy. I started wearing Dominator 2 MTB shoes in the 90's. Currently run the Dominator 10 with XTR SPD's.

@smittycl don't you look forward to adding several new gear related acronyms to your vocabulary? You'll be talking power meters, VO2 max and FTP tests by the fall.

I'm going to be the last person to embrace boas; I still like my shoes velcro only.
