G-Star jeans

Went to the G-Star store in Melbourne yesterday to see if I could add anything to my jeans roster. I was pleasantly surprised by the whole deal. Unlike a few designer denim companies I could mention, G-Star haven't assumed all their clientele are 6'+, and so they offer... wait for it... variable inseam lengths. So I could get my hands on the elusive 28X30 in almost every style and wash. I went for a pair of their 'Elwood' jeans, which are wide-legged, segmented utility jeans with ICN-style side-slash pockets. I got them in 'gray crosshatch' - a fairly extreme distressed gray/black, but a really well-done distressing job. Nice denim, good fit, very comfortable. Plus, for the first time ever, I could get a pair of jeans with articulated knees which line up with my actual knees... And so, in conclusion, good job, G-Star. Anyone else care to comment on their stuff?

I'm glad you like their stuff. Personally I greatly dislike G Star

. I find their denim medicore at best and their style too faddish and trendy. They have recently jumped on the raw denim bandwagon and a few months ago, you would see their "rigid denim" ad plastered on innumerable bus and tram stops. Then again, this is just me... Part of me wants to like them since they are Dutch....

There's a couple of trams in the city that have been "G-Starred" - every single panel of each tram has been converted into part of a giant G-Star ad...

You're right about the trendy part, though... I figure I have enough timeless classics, and will break out into something trendy once in a while - by the time they're 'out', I'll have worn them to pieces...
