In the end, Man U probably didn't need very much so the final result isn't bad.

Keeping Rooney in the team may have been the most important deal ManU made this summer. Still, the feeling is that they lost ground to Man C, Chelsea and maybe even Arsenal this summer.

I always liked Moyes but can he fully replace SAF in his first season? Chelsea got Mourinho and Man City spent 100 million on big big signings.

Fellaini was great in Everton but will he make that big impact in ManU? I doubt it.

Spurs did the best, selling Bale for a three times his value and getting a stack of players in.

Sorry, in my view it was Bale who made Spurs a contender for top 4. He had a unique ability to change any game from a draw to a win. AVB has to make all those new players work as a team and he will need 2-3 years and lots of luck. I think Spurs has a good chance to get 5th, again.

Quite impressed by Arsenal and Spurs. Ozil is a great talent and very smart player IMO. Bale definitely made Spurs a better team but it would be almost impossible to turn down that transfer fee.

Oh, Bale did well for Spurs both playing for them and now that he's gone. I'm just disputing his value as the most expensive football player ever.

About the valuation, I agree 100 %. And he forced Spurs to sell him, so there was no real option for Levy / AVB.

You are right. Crazy money. But I doubt Spurs will be a better football team this season.

I think the Bale money resulted in a much, much better looking Spurs team overall. Something like 7-8 internationals joined up in exchange for one overrated Welshman.

You are not 100 % satisfied with your team's recent transfers? :)

Read a report today that Arsenal Özil jerseys are outselling Madrid Bale jerseys almost 2 to 1.

Why the surprise? I think Ozil to Arsenal is much more significant than Bale to RM.

Just Perez' and Madrid's constant references to making back transfer fees in shirt sales, foreign tours, etc. It's all complete bull. Bale is a very dynamic player, but not what Madrid needed, and Perez just let his cajones get in the way of sound business and football.

They're now planning to target the Anglo-Saxon market b/c their big Asian draw in Kaká has gone too.

I think out of this Arsenal-Spurs-RM Bale-a-thon triangle, Arsenal probably did the best, with Spurs a close second. I would have loved to have Ozil at Utd, but I'm not too disappointed and would like to see more of the youngsters such as Jesse and Adnan (though they'll probably won't feature that much). The ineptitude of the transfer dealings is another matter.

Fantastic. US/CR tonight. 8 USMNT players are on yellow right now.

The ref? Mexican.

We play Mexico in 4 days.

Let's see how many US players pick up random yellows tonight, forcing them to miss the MX game on Tuesday? Odds on 5+?
