Just snuck in an order of battleship flannel tartan. Does it get any cooler than that?

@DapperDan08 thanks man.. you're going to love it!

@Epaulet tapered to 7.5” scares me a bit but can you elaborate on what “scales at mid thigh” means? Also, standard inseem length?

I’m afraid my leg girth continues past the knee which typically has me looking for leg openings closer to 8”. This also allows me to wear them with boots if needed. At 5’9” though I’m wondering if the taper kicks in low enough to not be a problem once I hem them to a ~30” inseem

@avsmusic1 we're going to finish the jean inseam at 36." When I say "standard," I'm talking longer than 30". After that point, the inseam is going completely straight down. And if you hem it to 28 or 29" inches, it's not going to be significantly bigger.

I think that this will work for you, but if I learned one thing, it's that's one jean shape will never fit everyone. I'm using myself as the test subject, and I've got pretty big calves, so if the taper works on me without being too tight, then it should work on most guys. If you fit into the Sandow or the Rivet Chino, then you should fit into these jeans (that's the plan), but of course you also have to like the overall shape and style. Guys tend to be more picky about how denim fits, so that's why I'm going to stress the construction, silhouette, and fabrication.

We'll launch with two denims and one color of duck canvas.. probably caramel.. but if the shape is popular then I'll immediately look to cut it in non-denim fabrics for future runs.

I’m so damn excited it hurts lol

Thanks so much guys.. I'm excited to show you the sample in about a week! We're also doing our first heavyweight shirt, which should be out in December as well. It's got a lot of bells and whistles (gussets, chainstitched hems, bottom stitching runoff) and I sourced two insanely rad Japanese shadow plaids for the first run...

@Epaulet What’s the best way to soften the navy duck canvas Doyle? Mine’s been through the wash about 5 times. Worn a bunch. Steamed. It still stands up on its own. Any suggestions? My walnut duck Doyle is buttery soft and I want to get the navy one there ASAP.
Any shrinkage so far?

Makes sense, and I should have known you were the test subject- which does give me faith on the fit

I’m looking forward to checking it out!

Nothing I notice. Yesterday I compared sleeve length of the two I have to see if there was any difference. They were the same length despite being washed a different number of times. The navy even went through a no heat drying cycle with some dryer balls to try to soften it up (no perceived difference).

All this talk talk about the Wilshire today forced me to admit that the two pair I have in my closet in my "never worn but still holding onto for some reason" pile are indeed a size too big for me which sucks because the cut on these is perfect. I was late to the game on these and if I remember correctly the 32's were all gone so I copped these hoping they'd work...I've held onto them thinking I may "grow into" them but neither my legs or waist are growing any thicker, the belly is a diff story unfortunately.

One pair each of Indigo and grey in size 33...will list later today in the Epaulet B-S-T thread

Hey everyone, don’t buy any jeans yet! Hoping to get our final fit sample on Friday.. and then production in about three weeks.

The new jean will have a higher rise, eased thigh and seat, tapered bottom to 7.5”. Planning for $135 with a single wash and Kuroki crosshatch denim :bigstar:

It sounds great. I’d advise to make sure the back rise is significant, makes a huge difference. Around 15.5-16 on a 33.

And I’m still lobbying for a quality stretch denim. Candiani consistently does this very nicely.
Raw denim *****.... right here!

If the shape takes off. It would be great to see seasonal iterations in both true denims and other fabrics.

Give us a Cali 5-year wash in stretch for summer! And a nice mid grey/white weft.

And while I’m at it, lol. I would absolutely crush a pair of sashiko rivets.
Studio D’Artisan sashiko jeans have been on my list for a while they are glorious, they arnt the rivet shape.

I’m taking a break from watching the Michigan/OSU game (Go Blue!) to say my Sashiko Doyle arrived today and it might be the best thing I’ve ever ordered from Epaulet. It’s my 4th Doyle and by far my favorite! The material is so much softer and thicker and warmer than I was expecting.

I sized up to a 42 (I’m usually a 41 in sport coats so sizing up from typical 40 Doyle to a 42 isn’t a big jump) and it fits perfectly over a sweater and OCBD shirt.

If I didn’t order one during he discount, I’d still be interested in buying this one at full price.

It looks like there’s still a good assortment of them in stock. Go buy yours now!

+1 to this. I have a sashiko jacket from Blue Blue Japan. The Sashiko doyle has a nice broken-in feel, soft, and size is perfect ordering my usual suit sizing. Would buy full price or on discount.

How much would using selvedge denim add to the cost?

I think Mike's said that selvedge isn't in the works because it's hard to compete in such an oversaturated marketplace against a bunch of denim-centric brands. That said, I'm wondering if the occasional pre-order / crowdfund-only offer would be an option if a particularly awesome selvedge fabric came up (ditto for the heavyweight shirts with a selvedge chambray or canvas).
