I picked up two new suits this weekend. Brooks Brothers, Madison, 1818, Navy and Charcoal, fine subtle pinstripe. I like both suits very much. First suits I bought in 20 years.

I have learned more about suits in the past month than in the past - well, ever. So - it comes down to a minor detail, not knowing "enough," and not taking my time.

Center vents versus side vents. I honestly didn't know which I even ended up with - I had to look this morning. Center.

Now, I see pros, cons, horseback, sitting and hands-in-pockets referenced all over this forum and others. I just need to know that:

a) It's FINE!
b) It's NOT a mark of style stupidity! and
c) Good choice of suits!

(I should point out I'm an American, apparently that plays a role...).

Sidenote - I also got a pair AE Park Avenues this week, no remorse whatsoever there!

Anyway - I'm not a frequent or fashionable shopper, and this is quite an outlay ($$) for me, but I won't need to do it again anytime soon. Tell me to be happy, no regrets!

The stupidity is not taking more care with two garments which by the sounds you will have for many years to come.

Centre vents cannot be recommended although are a matter of choice - even if a bad one. Thus I would not describe this as a good choice but no one will notice or point at you.
