Not saying anybody here thought otherwise, but these shoes aren't that much different than any other luxury item. The initial cost of buying them is only one part of the overall cost of ownership. This is also true with maintenance costs for luxury cars, watches, or any other luxury item for that matter.
Corollary: if you are concerned with how much it costs, you probably shouldn't be buying them anyway. Not to imply that one should disregard or neglect price, but we all know that the EG road is an expensive one to travel. Not saying anybody here thought otherwise, but these shoes aren't that much different than any other luxury item. Just checked what I paid for my refurbishment last autumn, at it was 195 pound plus shipping. Indeed, when I first inquired they quoted me a quite outrageous figure which included pick up from my own door step, but to save a bit I chose to ship them myself which worked out perfectly fine. The refurbishment included new soles, new welt and new insocks. All in all I was extremely happy with the result.
Cheers,
SKM

nice to know the Red Sub is highly water resistantOne of those perfect combos if you ask me, Zug and Red Sub. Craftsmanship of both of these are beyond compare. Both are built tough, one of which is water proof, and one of which is highly water resistant. But more importantly they both have a bit of red in them.LOL I may need to get a different strap but for now this will do.
Out of curiosity I checked with EG (Jermyn St.) on the current price of a resole. I was told:
The price of this service is £275 per pair and it takes 8-10 weeks.
That is approx. $455. Wow.
This quote includes shipping both ways.

Lets see now:
