Topy is the answer

If Topy is the answer then the question must be -what is the single biggest cause of suicide?

topy is never the answer.

Bad news for EG MTO fans. They are severely restricting the program and limiting changes to sole and leather. Also, each model will only be available for MTO on TWO lasts chosen by EG. Kind of defeats the purpose IMHO.

Let's hope they change their minds and switch back to the old system!

True, I recently requested a MTO Dover on the 82 last, they replied that they offer the Dover only on the 606 and 32 lasts. In the past they most defiantly offered the Dover on the 82, multiple examples can be seen on the Leffot blog.

Are they still upcharging for MTO in that case? At any rate, can someone give me some opinions on a suede Malvern? I am thinking of a Malvern in either the 888 or 202, but I can't decide between tobacco, light mushroom, or mink suede. I've seen the mushroom suede in person, and it looks great, but maybe the tobacco or mink would be more versatile? They also have black, forest green, and navy (although I already have a navy suede blucher).

I wonder if they are doing it to make the one-off "EG for Leffot" type orders more exclusive?

Perhaps. Or maybe since other makers are stepping up their game EG needs to cut costs to stay on top.

I sometimes regret ordering a Malvern on the 202 and wished I had gone with the 82. Mink suede is

Or do they want to push more people towards the Top Drawer? I.e. regular m-t-o: only on 2 lasts, TD m-t-o: take your pick...

That's pretty much how I interpret it. TD is nice, but not really appropriate for casual shoes IMHO. All of the fancy finishing doesn't scream "casual". Also, TD pricing pushes you up towards St. Crispin's pricing.....

I've never seen mushroom in person but I'm partial to tobacco myself. A very rich suede color and very versatile. Mink was also nice but very dark - I thought it looked too dressy with denim.

Someone suggested sizing down a width when ordering shoes on the 202. A "D", as opposed to standard "E", width does alot IMO to reduce the roominess in the toe box.

Actually the 202 fits me fine but the Malvern/Falkirk on the 82 is

Gives me an idea, maybe I'll order the Falkirk in the Hardy Amies blue/blue on the 82 :lightbulb:
