Neenah Cherry, "Buffalo Stance" was the song off of the Raw Like Sushi album. She was mad hot. Eagle Eye is the classic one-hit wonder.

True, but you need people familiar to everyone.

I think they generally ignored anything before 1960. Which is good because the Jazz players clearly would have dominated that list.

Do you have to be alive to make the list? Otherwise, where is Duke Ellington?

I think Wynton Marsalis is cool, but I know that will be controversial.

You don't think Clarence Thomas is cool?

Idris Elba (Stringer Bell from "The Wire")?

I would put Coltrane above Miles on any cool list, but my view is probably the minority.

Cool? No. But I admire him very much on a number of levels, and am prepared to defend him against all manner of attacks.

Coolness isn't everything.

Clarence Thomas has a black Corvette with a license plate that reads RES IPSA. I think that's really cool.

He also has a plaque in his chambers that says "Please do not emanate into the penumbras." That too is really cool.

Yes -- or I assume you mean his autobio, My Grandfather's Son. Fantastic book.
