Recently I bid on and won a cashmere Sulka robe on ebay. The auction was limited to the UK, but the seller responded to a couple questions I sent and confirmed she could ship to France. However, after winning I've sent a Request Total message as well as several followup messages asking for the total, and haven't gotten any reply. I obviously haven't sent payment yet, but does anyone know what I can do in this situation -- a seller who no longer replies to messages after I win the auction?

How long have you been waiting for? I've had similar situations, where the people have just been away or busy or lazy ... I say start worrying if it takes more than week to get a reply

I'd send eBay a message if I were you, just to CYOA.

Wait to get an invoice before you send any money.

If I may ask, how much was the cashmere Sulka robe? The Ebay seller strada11 had a lot of Sulka silk robes that he has sold for relatively high prices, &750-1250.

+1. She'll respond eventually. If not, threaten to slam her with negative feedback.

I had a seller give me no messages after I bought the item so after about a week I did a 'request contact info' through ebay and they were able to get me the guys phone number. Turns out he was just a dumbass who never checked his messages.

I had one seller do the same thing. He wouldn't respond to messages, and then he started listing other items, so it was obvious he was ignoring me. I figured he was unhappy with the price he got. I could have pushed it, but didn't want the negative feedback. I imagine most sellers who pull such a stunt have decided it's worth it to risk a neg, and that leaves the buyer in a hard spot.

I've had this happen. When the seller finally contacted me he said there had been a death in the family and they were out of town for a couple of weeks. I would just wait one or two weeks then contact ebay, or because you haven't payed anything yet just forget about it.

The seller was a low-feedback space cadet and finally got back to me about 10 days after the auction end. I've sent payment and will let people know if it actually is free of flaws and 100% cashmere.

The auction ended at 100 pounds. If it is in good shape, it's a bargain for a Sulka robe. If it's really all cashmere, then I did well.

I've been through this experience (as a buyer) several times over the years, always with bad results.

One time I put in a low bid on an item that had a reserve on it and a starting bid of $1 or something. After the auction ended, I was amazed to find that not only had I won the auction but that the reserve had been met at $10! Who bothers with such a low reserve, right? Well, I'm sure the seller simply made a mistake and intended for the reserve to be higher (maybe $100), but rather than biting the bullet and selling the item for the winning bid, the seller ignored my many payment requests. When I finally left him negative feedback (rationale, truthful feedback -- "seller never responded to requests for payment details," or something along those lines), he immediately left me retaliatory, nasty feedback indicating that I was a non-paying bidder! Sigh....
