If there is anything to the doctrine of metempsychosis and for my many sins I am to be reincarnated as a chicken, I would far, far rather come back as a fighting cock than as some wretched broiler capon.
I have heard it argued that it is cruel not to let fighting dogs fight--they love it so much. I am not sure I entirely buy into that, but it is an interesting point of view.
I have also heard it advocated that children should be taken to dogfights to learn lessons in matchless courage, gameness and determination--much more edifying than a lot of the witless sex and violence endemic to modern entertainment. I'm inclined to agree.
