I believe that former AFL player Anthony Rocca is still turning out as the punter for the Philadelphia Eagles. I noticed the other day that the Eagles seem to be travelling pretty well. I'm wondering if any NFL fans here can give an informed opinion on how Rocca's doing.

The local pundits would summarize him as being able to really boom them but he can be inconsistent. I heard one comment that punting in cold weather is different than in warm/hot and that he has not refined his style to these type conditions yet.

What I like best about him is his willingness to get in on a tackle as necessary -- I assume it is the AFLer in him.

He is doing ok. He can sure put power in them, but needs to work on his control.

can't kick in the cold, based on the one frigid game (the redskins game in DC) where i saw him live.

That wouldn't surprise. While AFL is a winter sport here, we don't get the extremes of cold I've seen some NFL games played in. Rocca would have played more games in tropical conditions than in snow.

Just saw that the Eagles are playing the Cardinals for the title. So an Australian will play in the Super Bowl no matter what. That's good, and it suggests that NFL scouts would do well to approach some of the younger AFL talent.
