Does anyone here have trouble fitting the EG 888

888 doesn't fit me well. It's too narrow in a number of areas. I have owned/tried both D and E fittings. I am curious what an F width would be like.

With everyone singing the praises of the 888, I'm glad to know t that I'm not alone. Thanks for all the responses.

It could be that for me too. I've only tried on the 888 in RLPL shoes.

The 89 last is much more roomy and fits me where the 888 does not.

That said, how does the 808 fit relative to the 888 or 89?

I had one 808 last pair on approval once and compared it to the 888. The biggest difference I noticed was the 808 had a much lower instep.

Aside from the 888 and the 89, I've only tried on 202s, 82s and loafers. I found that the 89 was not an improvement for me in RLPL widths, but I know that others have had a different experience in that regard. It also doesn't help that RLPL doesn't stock the size that fits me best in, say the 202.

Really? So in other words, they would feel tighter across the instep and width than the same size in 888? i.e. there is less volume in the last to accomodate wider/higher instep feet?

I know the EG Newbury is old news, but does anyone know where I can find it on a last other than the 888? Now, back to EL72's question: could someone explain what it means to have a high vs. low instep? (I think that's sort of what you're asking).
