Sounds like Posen is going to be given Old Navy to reboot creatively as the Banana Republic refresh seems to have done well and the whole portfolio needs help. The Gap itself... I think probably needs a bit of a time to just lay fallow before pouring cash at a reboot as the last attempt to add life got stuck in the fun of pre-production and probably burned out allot of resources and key people.

I actually like some of the new BR stuff and started buying some chinos from them. First time I've bought BR stuff in like 10 years. I just wished they redesigned their website to make it more user friendly. It's total dogsh1t when trying to search and filter stuff.

Geller is at Rag and Bone, a smaller company and to me a much better fit.
Happy for him, not sure about Posen but lets see. of course, not as risky as he who shall not be named.
the issue here is posen brand closed because he failed to do on a smaller scale, exactly what he is now given the responsibility to do, design or oversee the design of clothimnh that successfully appeals ro customers on a mass scale
Posen never did day wear, he never did casual, practical clothing. Lets see if he can do it now, and do on the scope of a big company such as this...........

ACW. Sold. Top line £16 million in 2023.

“A-Cold-Wall has 10 full-time employees, and most have been there for six or seven years. There’s this very intimate way of working because people actually can scale and grow a career and have control over what the brand produces. Which goes back to my original idea of being a young startup and finding a new way to grow in fashion.”

Ten staff. £16 million sales. Nice business and hopefully a nice exit with a decent ratio of those sales.

From the phrasing of 'restructuring' not being a likely outcome, probably liquidating and shutting down?

Are there any big luxury e-tailers that aren't struggling? YNAP, Farfetch not doing well.

-SSENSE as well. The big online multi-brand retailers are having the same issues as department stores.

Certainly sounds like it:

“Whilst Matches’ management team has tried to find a way to stabilise the business, it has become clear that too much change would be required to restructure it, and the continued funding requirements would be far in excess of amounts that the Group considers to be viable,” Frasers Group said in a statement. “In light of this, Frasers has been informed that the directors of Matches have taken the decision to put the Matches group into administration. Frasers remains committed to the luxury market and its brand partners.”

Bummer, I really enjoyed their selection.

I saw a quote from one of the Matches employees that they just laid a ton of people off with no severance package. They were one of my favorite retailers back when they used to carry DBF and Margaret Howell.

I wonder if MrP’s 25% off everything sale is a harbinger of doom for them.

Interesting article but am compelled to say that fabric finishes, dyes, and fibres can be irritants and potentially bad for you regardless of the type of fibre inputs in the textiles compared to stuff like silk. Concern is warranted but many natural sourced fibres are treated and dyed with the same kinds of treatments as synthetics and many have anti-mold treatments that may not be used on synthetics.

More testing certainly is needed and more consumer information made available regarding how things are made would be a positive. Absolutely wear what you prefer but the lack of testing applies across categories of textiles. Like many things without inspection, testing and certification consumers have nothing to go on. If it's cheap enough I think some folks would wear a lead painted, asbestos lined, kitten fur knit piece, sewn in a concentration camp powered by coal justo t get a fit off.

agreed, more comprehensive testing and transparent consumer information are indeed crucial imo
