Different Shoulder Styles

I'm fairly confused when I read about different types of shoulder styles on suits or jackets. Does the shoulder style refer mostly to the amount of padding a shoulder has (a lot versus a little) or does it have to do more with the shape of the shoulder.

Are there a few basic kinds of shoulder?

If anyone could illustrate with pics that would be even better...
