Hi guys, I am new here.

I recently bought a sport coat / jacket. What are the tips and tricks for me to know that a ready to wear jacket fits me well?

I have a thin waist, and my shoulders are somewhat developed. The jacket feels a bit tight around the shoulders when I move my arms above my head. Is it possible to get it altered to fix this, or am I stuck with a jacket which is a bit small for me?

Thanks for the help!

^2nd. From my understanding, as long as the shoulders and chest fit, and the overall length of the coat is correct (should be just enough to cover your ass, about to the knuckle on your thumb), then the coat can be taken in or slimmed up by your tailor. I don't think you should expect to be comfortable putting your arms over your head in a suit though.

There's a ton of info to wade through using search also.

According to Russell Smith, a jacket should be comfortable with your hands above your head if you plan on playing basketball in it.
