I was in DC a couple of weeks ago. Whenever I'm there I usually go by the Church's store at 18th & L Streets. I usually don't buy anything. But every once in a while I've been lucky enough to visit while they're having a sale. Scored a pair of brown suede Gatcombe full brogue ankle boots there once for about $180. So as I walked down 18th Street from the north I could see the store approaching. I could see the words "SALE" on the window. But there was a reflection on the glass and I could see nothing of the store's interior. Then the disappointment. As I approached the door I could see the store was empty. The door was locked. The shelves were bare. An open door to the stock room revealed nothing there either. All that was left was a computer and a lone man writing something on a sheet of paper. He didn't look-up as I peered through the windows. A sign on the glass announced the store was closed and thanked customers for their years of patronage. I hailed a cab a gave the driver Sky Valet's address.

Good riddance.
I've visited that store twice.
On both occasions I received noticeably poor customer service.

(Fwiw, JPress seems to still be going strong though.)
