If the style suits what you want, those are a lovely pair of boots made with a hard wearing material. On quality, I wouldn't have any doubts: Cheaney is a brand that deliver with their products: better leather and finishings than most American brands.Hi guys can I please have some thoughts on these Hurricane II Military Style Derby Boot in Whiskey Kudu Leather https://www.cheaney.co.uk/cheaney-h...tyle-derby-boot-in-whiskey-kudu-leather-p1379
They look like a pretty smart yet rugged boot in a Burgundy-esque colour and I can't see many downsides for the price (other than buying blind without trying it on so I need to make sure my foot measurements are right). I would be using them as a general rough and ready boot for Winter or wet weather etc and would plan on wearing other boots to more fancy social occasions. Generall I'd wear with slim jeans and a wool coat in black, navy or grey.
Opinions on the quality and size/fit?
Thanks man that is very useful! The Hurricane II looks chunky but not "too" chunky so I am hoping it will make a good rugged boot for the kind of conditions and terrain that I wouldn't take a nicer boot out in. I think a size 10 would likely be fine considering I am officially a 10-10.5 44-44.5 and I think a size 10 in this boot would allow me a little room to wear some thicker or padded socks. If the style suits what you want, those are a lovely pair of boots made with a hard wearing material. On the sizing, I usually go half a size down with most of Cheaney's lasts, taking into account that my feet are slim, with a low volume and instep. This might not be your case, as every foot is a world. If you have wider feet with a high instep, I wouldn't downsize, as they might be too tight for you and I would go with your usual UK sizing, one size less than your American dressing shoes.
I have this boot. Its a handsome and rugged boot, lovely colour too. The fit is somewhat generous but not overly so. If you have narrow feet it would be a boot to wear a thick sock in but if your feet are normal to wide then you'll be fine in normal socks. Hope this helps. Thanks man that is very useful!
