I would have thought so, but the person parked the car right up front by the entrance of the building, where people park all the time. I think the Camry looks a lot closer than it actually was--sort of a weird perspective thing in the photo. When I walked past the two cars didn't look especially close to each other.

Wonder why he opted to pull forward instead of backing up into the space? The quarter panel is one of the hardest and most costly parts of bodywork to repair. This is spoken from someone who use to work around bodyshops, especially Ferrari bodywork. We had a 599 GTO that needed a new front bumper, with a price tag of $20K (shipped from Italy), paid for by the dealer. The tech parked way to close to the lift arm and it snagged it when he backed up. Couldn’t imagine what a quarter would’ve costed. Mind you, this was done all behind the owners back.

Removing a simple door ding from a quarter can cost close to a $1K as opposed to a $100+ on say the door. Obviously classic cars are of course going to be at a higher premium..............which is all the more reason to back into a spot. Plus most parking lot related accidents stem from those backing out of spots.

HAHA too bad it was a DSG. Respect to the female wrenches out there. That girl amazed me with what she knew about mechanics and detailing. I imagine her upbringing must've been close to Tim the Toolman Taylor (Home Improvement). I'm at a fork in the road currently with the GTI. Do I wait for the MK8 2020 GTI to debut and place an order; they could be released later this year. Or do I buy a 2019 leftover which would be the MK7.5. The new 2020 VW GTI MK8 is said to have close to 300HP (MK7.5 has 228HP) and loads of more tech standard. On the other hand I do like the analog gauges on the MK7.5 as opposed to the alleged standard digital dash on the MK8. The cool thing about that it displays the nav screen in bewteen the gauges. My 2008 Civic Si has a digital speedo, and I've always wanted the traditional MPH/RPM gauge setup. However the near 70 HP bump is something I shouldn't be overlooking. I really like the Tartan Clark Plaid seats and would probably opt for that over the mundane (but comfortable) leather options.

What do you guys think?

Do they have HUD? Once you get used to HUD you probably won’t care for Nav on digital dash

I don't believe VW is quite there yet, the alleged standard Digital Dash is their advancement from the analog. I'm not sure I am happy or sad with that news. Mini Cooper offers HUD and it's pretty cool. It comes out of the dash like a fighter jet missile system . I would consider a MINI Cooper S had the ride not been so rough and unforgiving.

I’d lean toward getting a deal on the outgoing model. The new one will have more power, but is also going to be a measure larger (and likely heavier)—and it’s not a car you choose for the horsepower.

We’re beyond the point where next-gen models are guaranteed to be better than current or older cars. At least, not in the ways that matter to you or me.

That’s true. Plus 228HP is a decent step up from my NA 200HP Civic Si. I kinda dig the analog gauges too, I think it will age a bit more gracefully. I’m more concerned with the dreaded carbon buildup from Direct Injection. If the MK8 platform addressed this I’d be more inclined to buy one. Never had to worry about carbon before. Seems like it should be a problem of the past these days.

Now will you have a look at this ridiculous thing. For the low price of $3,500 you can have this showstopper. Just don’t think it can actually handle without you playing bumper cars with those around you. I’m guessing the roll cage is sold separately.
