C&j handgrade catalog scans

So as not to hijack another thread, here are scans of handgrade models from the 2004/2005 C&J catalogue. This has been out for a few months, but it's the first time I'm seeing it. Why this is not on their official web site is quite baffling. I have a pretty crappy scanner, so the colors aren't as bright as I'd like, but if you have older catalogs, you'll get the idea. Page 2: One new model, the Welbeck - sweet, but listed in black only. Page 3: Three new models. The hand stitched models have moved to the 337 last and have lost their split toe in the process, which is a bummer. The Seymour which I've seen at Barney's is on here too. Page 4: 4 new slip-ons on the 337 last. I like the Wimpole and the Buxton is quite nice despite being tassel loafers. Page 5: Nothing new here.

Hot. The ram's-horn medallion is a nice touch - Is that the handgrade signature? What's with the 'beige' shoes?

They're listed as Beige Antique but in the look more like light tan to me. Quite nice in my opinion.

Anyone know if C&J offers nickel buckles on their monkstraps as opposed to brass ones?

As a PS, this is the 2nd time I've received a C&J catalog in a Turnbull & Asser labelled envelope. Does T&A (or maybe the Al-Fayed family) own C&J?

Yes, the al-Fayed family (not Mohammed) owns both Turnbull & Asser and Crockett & Jones. There's been discussion (and confusion) of this in the past on AA, but I can guarantee it.

I receive my catalogue just a day or two ago and smiled when I opened the Turnbull envelope to reveal such long-awaited eye candy.

Doesn't it seem as if the Audley has absolutely the best finish/shine?

Oh, and I agree, the 337 last is great.

Note that there is also a new wholecut in the non handgrade line, called the Mayfair on last 318 (quite a nice toe shape, quite similar to the Weymouth), but only available in black.

Yes, the al-Fayed family (not Mohammed) owns both Turnbull & Asser and Crockett & Jones.

I believe it should be Turnbull & Asser and the Crockett & Jones London shops (3 at present) are owned by the Fayeds. The C & J factory in Northampton (unless things have radically changed in the last year or so) is still owned and run by members of the founding family. Also Loake and Alfred Sargent are still in the hands and under the control of their respective families. The London retail outlet is a franchise; maybe the firm of C &J did not want to venture into retail, therefore T & A has come some deal with them. This happens quite frequently in commerce today. Often you don't know whether the Brioni shop in Chicago (or wherever) is owned by the parent company in Italy or has been set up by some entrepreneur who has come to some exclusivity agreement with Brioni. I believe the Paris C & J shop is French owned and has nothing to do with T & A or the Fayeds.

You're quite right. It's on Page 8 of the catalog. On a related note there is a monstrous (UK size 12) C&J bench-grade black Westminister on eBay.

Oh, you mean the shoes. Or the size? Anyway, there is quite a bit of "brogueing" (an invented word?) on this particular shoe.
