A "David" cocktail from David Kinch at Manresa. Cara Cara orange, rye whiskey, aperol, carpano antica, dash of bitters.

Sounds like a nice riff on the Boulevardier. Just trying this Old Forester 1920 and must say it’s highly enjoyable. I like to put new (to me) whiskies up against my “benchmark” bourbon, Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Really enjoy this. There’s a definite ethanol component floating above the fray on the nose, but damn does this have a lot going on IMHO. Same on the palate. Highly enjoyable. Boulevardier in the glasses.

You should. In most spirits, I’ve kind of found my sweet spot bottle… not that things don’t occasionally surpass it. Mount Gay XO is the same for me with rum.

LOL. I like to get slightly altered one day a week. I prefer to start earlier, in order to make sure I can properly hydrate and get to bed at a decent hour… I failed at this last night and am a touch torn and frayed this morning. No headache at least!

That’s a very creative way of saying I like getting drunk

😅 I know (think?) you’re kidding… but I most certainly do not like to get drunk. I do however, appreciate a light to occasional moderate buzz though! Last night was hella’ fun, I must say. A good friend, cigars, bourbon and eulogizing Mark Lanegan on the speaker. Wrapped it up with some delivered slices, while my wife and kids were out to dinner with her sister. 🤙🏽

K&L dropped some Dickel ‘15 year’ (actually 18 years old) store picks for $55

Nice, I'd pick those up if you can! I bought a bottle of the Dickel 17 year old a few years back when they released a small run in 375 ml bottles. If I recall correctly, priced in the $75 neighborhood, and it was a very good whiskey.
