According to 1/3 of respondents in a Mashable survey, Maker's Mark was the best bourbon, hands down. WTF other bourbons are these people drinking? I haven't been remotely tempted to buy Maker's since the first time I tried it over 10 years ago. Maybe it was favored due to its unobtrusiveness and blandness?

Right! Survey seems highly suspect. Maybe it's effective MM marketing?

What would we say are the best options at the MM price point (~$30)? I'd probably go with 1792.

I like Four Roses Small Batch.my local always has it for about $35. (Not the Small Batch Select, which is also good, but more $$ at about $45, worth the upcharge IMHO)

Other options:

Rowan's Creek (~$40)
Elijah Craig Small Batch (~$30)
Evan Williams Single Barrel (~$30)
Old Forrester 100 proof (~$25!)
Michter’s US 1 (a little more at about $50)

Agree on OF100pf and FRsb for sure. Would also add Dickel8yo, Woodford and of course, Buffalo Trace to that list.
