I figured you'd say that! I would suspect my constant exposure to the Alden design language is part of why I have grown to prefer it
Also, Alden’s glaze is pigmented for “color correction”. That’s why Alden’s color 8 is almost black when new.

I would be infinitely happier with a lighter burgundy, imperfections and all, to begin with. If they’re having to resort to lower quality shells across the board, I understand. But, for example, Brett Klein’s #fadedboot looks great despite the imperfections he points out.
