Black raw denim recommendations (RRL slim bootcut alternative) / G-Star quality?

Disclaimer: MC poster here. :hide:

So, after various attempts I've settled on RRL Slim Bootcut (32W) as my favourite jeans. I've got a few pairs (white, indigo, cord), and now I'd like a raw black pair -- the sort that slowly fades into charcoal or mid-gray. Problem: I don't think RL make those in raw black (I've tried the new 'slim fit' cut and it isn't quite the same: fuller, with less shape). There are a few gray/black pairs on ebay, but they're all pre-faded. I want to start a pair from scratch (or from the 'once washed' stage). So I may have to look for alternatives. Suggestions?

By the way, this isn't a brand that appeals to me at all, but today I walked past a G-Star shop and tried on a pair of their slim fit Brooklyn raw denim jeans. Not too bad fit-wise, even though the denim seemed a bit light and devoid of character. They may make a decent pair of summer jeans, unless you guys have got any reasons to discourage buying this make. Also, the Brooklyn denim seems sort of black, but there may be some blue in there. Any experience with how it fades?

Cheers.

PC new standard is an option as well. Leg opening is not that small. Context has raw blacks.

Thanks, both. I had some blue Uniqlos and was quite happy with them, but I don't think they make the black any more. At least it's not for sale here in the UK.

Will look into APC. They fade a lot, which is good for a black pair, I reckon. I recall the sizing is messy. If I'm a 32 in RRL slim bootcut which size of raw NS should I get?

I'm a 32" waist and I have size 30. There's a little chart on the Context site with measurements. apc denim is unusually stretchy ime. So after a soak it will shrink, but then stretch back out after an hour or two of wearing.
