Who do you think is the best dressed movie charachter? I think Robert Downey Jr has a pretty slick wardrobe in the Iron man series.
Slick does not belong in a sentence with 'best dressed.'

Just saw Assasination of Jesse James again the other day, forgot how nice the costume design was. Looks straight out of RRL

I absolutely love the designers that did the work in Public Enemies for Johnny Depp. I think a Colt 45 and a Tommy Gun are always the perfect accessories.

All kidding aside though I love the blue vest with brown suit and the use of overcoats to accent the colors of the wool suits beneath.

Also, you're onto something with the .45.

Dillinger carried a Colt M1911, the handgun for which the .45 cartridge was chambered, but he preferred the .38 Super version when he could get it.

It shot through car door panels better, and was perhaps a touch more elegant.
