They all check for ID. They've even gotten tougher. They will not let you in even if your ID is expired.

They even check the expiration date at the Safeways here. I used to be a notary and know that to be a valid form of ID, the expiration date doesn't matter as long as the issuing date is within 7 years (in California if I remember correctly).

I've been carded alot more in DC this summer than I can remember. I even got turned away at a couple of spots because my license was expired. I had to start carrying my passport until my license was renewed.

That's sheer scamming there.

Yeah, so many college kids go broke paying $10+ for a drink. Pre-party or find a dive bar or both.

The attraction is probably the thrill.

However, I pay $15 for a drink in my favorite bar quite happily. But then again, the fee is not assessed merely for the liquor, but for the ambiance, the sheer quality of the cocktail, made as they are, with house-made mixers (down to the bitters, even), and the lack of boorish individuals.

not very classy, but if it's the thrill you seek, go to black cat, get in for free underage, and get ur friend to buy you drinks (go to the bathroom and wash off your x's), and stay in a relatively crowded spot =\\
