Hi all,

My cousin recently bought me sportscoat that I really like. Unfortunately, it has roped shoulders so it has this look that I really can't put to words but is a look that I dislike when compared to other jackets that I have that feature natural shoulders. I was wondering if it were possible for a tailor to remove some of the padding to make have natural shoulder expression.

i have no clue but i think you could, though, it might affect how the fabric drapes, thus, the balance across the shoulders.

Strange question. I'm in the lucky position where I can ride my bike to work. I've figured out a system of getting my work clothes to work ad back but need a way to protect the ties.

I've been taking them and leaving them in the bottom of the suit bag but would prefer if they were a bit more protected. Anyone have any suggestions?

Roll the ties up and put them in your work shoes, assuming that you ride with a different pair of shoes.

The short answer is no. The long answer is anything is possible if you are willing to pay. (Warning - it could cost half as much as a new jacket and theres a distinct possibility it wouldn't turn out right.)

Roping isn't really related to "padding".

You can have "natural shoulders" that are roped.

Is it the roping you don't like or the built up shoulders? I like roped shoulders on some things.

There is an fetishistic concern on the USA parts of this forum with "natural" , "soft" or "shirt sleeved" shoulders. In many cases the wearers are badly served by them.
