1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I'll pity the day when people start wearing shorts with suits at Pitti. Although I do hope it's in winter.

On the topic of shorts, and getting in before FXH's does his story about how he stopped wearing them when he was 12 or so, I'm going to get luxire to make me up some shorts. I'll probably get my Orlebar browns copied but a tad longer and the waist measurment taken in. I think black shorts, white tshirt and Black/White Common projects or my Red Wing Derbies would be a great summer look.

Gotta say - out of all the excessive things you can do, M2M shorts are up there.

If you want to annoy FXH that badly just take your socks off.

Oli, I don't quite see how that's excessive. We're all on a forum talking about clothes. Many of us will never meet in person. Forging a community for clothes online seems excessive, no?

For me, shorts are meant to be crinkly things that you wear casually in 35+ degree heat. They need not be fitted or exact.

Tailoring I can understand, shorts are overkill. My take anyway.

MTM isnt just about a tailored fit, you can choose the exact colour and material and pockets etc that you want, and with Luxire at a cheaper price than off the rack. I also like all my clothes to fit anyway #haventgottailoredshortsbtw

Dry them out like you would with normal leather. And like FH said, it's about the quality of the suede, like the quality of the leather if they were to be worn in the rain.

Discourse is always good, otherwise we get trapped into groupthink.

In other news, I haz new threads.

What other shorts are around the $69 USD price range? Maybe Industries but they're ugly. With Luxire I can get a good price, high quality, button adjusters and great fit, all for a great price. The only downside is the wait.

    Get a hold of yourself.

There were a gazillion different types of shorts on sale after Christmas around that price range. Maybe not to your taste, but still.

    I bought these off ebay - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261347325962?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

714's in 54mm. I'm a 52mm. These are advertised as the Steve McQueen Special Edition - they aren't - they are authentic Persol - in a very very similar colourway. I bought legit Special Editions in 52mm that fit me much better.

As you can see from the link I paid $330 for them landed.

I'm going to send them back and getting a refund.

But I'll flog them off to any of you fashionable iGents first for $250 inc express postage in Australia.

    Anyone keen?

I'm pretty sure that I did see a picture of Nick Wooster wearing shorts at Pitti, showing off his leg tatts.

Wish I could find a pic of those MJ Bale short suits they trotted out in December.

There's a few photos of shorts in their Lookbook:

    http://www.mjbale.com/lookbooks/spring-summer2013

The ones with side adjusters are pretty, well, short and they're not cheap, either, at $129 for some and $149 for others.

Sydney gents - Geoffrey Firmin and I are catching up for a quiet ale (or other suitable beverage) this afternoon in the CBD from 4:30 or so. Any members around town who might like to drop in for a drink or two to muse over the do's and don'ts of short-suits, PM me and I'll give you the good oil.
