Any alternatives to JMM's Loewy out there? I've tried them on and really like them, but I didn't pull the trigger and now they're backordered everywhere.

I preordered the Loewy in Jasper back in January and I'm still waiting.

Situation has become critical. No reps doing the rounds. My main optical supplier in Sydney is closed due to lock down. Eye Candy where Mrs GF got new spectacles are running low on stock and have nothing which appeals to me.

Walter and Herbert Made in England. Wore Anglo American which were English handmade way back in the 19990’s. Anyone know of the quality of this firm?

No clue. Never heard of it. Haven’t seen them at any major trade shows.

I don’t mean to be rude but that style is a dime a dozen. Way too many wear nice tailored suits but just wear “whatever” eyewear. However, with that said, it’s a great opportunity to support a brand that you admire.

Of course. Any good Optical can set you up with the lenses.

Just a small word of advice for everyone here:

In a time like this, there are tons of small businesses that are going through tough times. If you’re looking to get new eyewear, please consider giving your local independent Optical a try.

LensCrafters, Warby Parker and the such don’t need your money. The independent Optical who you go to get your glasses fixed when you’re in a pinch...go give that guy a try.

If you’re going to buy a pair of JMM or Matuda or Masunaga or whatever, go buy it at a local retailer rather than directly from the brand. It helps out the stores immensely!!! And you’ll pay the same price as the websites (probably even less than the websites).

What do you guys think? Agree or is this an unwarranted rant?

Hello, I’m hoping the folks on this fine thread can help me select some new sunglasses.

I’ve been wearing Persol 714s (small size) for a good number of years now mainly because:

A) I don’t feel stupid in them and think the shape works
B) By some miracle I haven’t lost them (well I lost one pair, got another and then found the first pair again)

However, now I feel like a change, perhaps a radical one, and am hoping that the folks in this fine thread can point me in the right direction...

I’ve been drawn to some of the Lesca models (Maio, Pica, Corbs) recently and would love to try them but the current situation and my location makes this difficult. It would be great to narrow stuff down before ordering anything and perhaps get some other suggestions too. Here’s what I hope are a few salient points:

1. I have a narrow, longish face shape I think. (Heart shaped?)
2. I have fair colouring - light red hair, short beard. This has me gravitating towards darker, warmer colours. I don’t often wear black.
3. Price of Lesca models suits my budget - whatever I get won’t be babied!
4. I wear sunglasses a lot!
5. Prefer brown lenses, or at least a warm colour
6. Availability in Europe would be good for easier returns.

I know even with the above info that there are so many variables to consider so totally understand if I am asking for the impossible here!
