Hey there, Not the most well versed on suits. Can anyone tell me more about this suit. Year, overall quality, cut...ect. It's advertised as a 2013 Gucci. I'm trying to find something with a low button stance and hoping this will work.

Hi Folks

Total newbie question, so I hope you'll forgive me!

Here's my question. I have my wedding coming up (THIS SUNDAY!!!!) and I need to get a nice pair of shoes to go with the slick tux I just bought for myself. until now, I had no idea how tricky buying a shoe can be and what it all entails. Figured nice dress shoes are dime a dozen and never learned all the different details before ive just begun scratching the surface now!

What am I looking for? well, like everyone I'd like to keep cost low, but I also understand you might not be able to find a good shoe at like sub $100 prices, so I'm budgeting circa $250 for the shoe. It's for a tuxedo, so I'd like to get a proper balmoral oxford, rather than the derby-oxfords that i'm seeing everywhere. and for some reason i just don't like the look of the super shiny patent black leather. I have grosgrain trim on my tuxedo rather than satin, and I just don't think that "shiny" look is what I really want right now.

I also don't usually like cap toes or wing tip: I wanna stick to plain toe if I can. I'm short, so I'd like a decent heel (=p) but I also want an otherwise not-chunky sleek looking sole (I hear leather is the 'legit' way to go for this). Also, as much as is possible for this budget, I'd like to avoid too many synthetic-y (read cheap) materials. I've found a couple shoes that I really like that are way way outside my price list, but I'm going to post a couple of those links here just so you know what I'm trying to target. is there such a thing as a "cheaper but looks pretty similar although the quality won't be as good obviously cause you get what you pay for" version of the shoes below? or something similar?

although i like it slightly less pointy than the alex.

any help for a now somewhat stressed groom?? also it would be a big help if any of the shoes were readily found in stores because it would a) save shipping time b) allow me to try them on for comfort. I'm in maryland and will be in north central NJ (not far south of newark) this weekend for pre-wedding festivities if anyone might have a specific recommendation on where to go in mind. Thanks for the suggestion. These appear to be a derby shoe rather than a proper balmoral, and as such there's a rather significant gap between the eyes which is to me, somewhat unsightly. What I found so far myself is the Johnston Murphy fulcher, though i can't seem to find one that isn't in patent black

Where the eyelets sit just has to do with fit. Buy the J&M. They're cheap shoes but they're what you need for a tuxedo and are readily available since you're sorting this out last minute.

How cheap are they with respect to allen admonds (in terms of quality)? the price is similar to the kenilworth, but it looks a little closer to what I'm looking for. And for clarity, which J&M are you recommending? thanks!

Okay I've found a few more possibilities. Can you guys give your recommendations?

Ferragamo Blucher. Gorgeous, Ferragamo quality. I will feel cool knowing i'm wearing one of like 4 name brands that I know are higher end.
Downside: it's a blucher.
Question: looks like it's got sort of a smaller heel, can I build that up at a cobbler's without it looking imbalanced? Does anyone know how much that might cost?

Franschetti Saddle shoe. Never heard of franschetti but then again don't know anything about shoes. Fancy sounding italian name though. More or less looks like a balmoral. Sleek lines. Downsides: technically isn't a balmoral, and has perforations, which isn't my favorite thing in the world.

If I do next day shipping, I should still be fine for any of these reaching me. But I need to hurry up and decide soon.

I also have the two johnston and murphy options still, which both have the advantage of being able to go and buy them from the store.
As a reminder there's the patent leather one (fulcher) which is nice except it's patent leather (am i being weird saying i dont like patent leather? is that what I should go for in the end?) and the normal leather one (bankston) with the larger gap between eyelits (take a look at the top view)

At this point, given the above options, I feel like they are all more attractive that the johnston and murphy and the allen edmonds kenilworth bluchers (rather get ferragamo bluchers than allen edmonds at a similar price point).

what say ye? If I'm ordering, I'm going to try to get the order in before the day is done so it gets here on time.

Noob here... I bought this pretty cheep during a Christmas sale at jcrew and only paired it with dark denim so far... Can this jacket be paired with odd trousers and if so what color/texture? Not a big fan of the narrow lapel or single vent so I may just stick with denim
