Neckerchief on campus, simple, knotted, tucked in to your shirt. You might be able to pull it off. But if you have to ask probably not.

yeah I wear ties on campus and sometimes that's even too much. If you wear an ascot you will be that dick kid with the ascot.

Something Scott Disick would do. I wear ascots on occasion but I would never have worn one on campus. Maybe wear one to a mixer or something, but on campus? No.

Why would you want to do that? Do you wear ascots at other times? I hate to be negative, but people will think you affected, pretentious, and out of touch if you wear an ascot.

Some few fellows wore ascots when I was up at Balliol 47-odd years ago. I thought they looked rather dashing then and still do. Wear one if you want to, I say. You will certainly stand out from the crowd. Some may think you "affected, pretentious and out of touch," but if you worried a lot about that, you probably wouldn't be considering an ascot anyway.

The only people I've ever seen pull this off in a college environment were were WASPy drunk frat boys, who wore ascots to mixers and parties with the express intention of shouting to everyone "hey, we're all rich dickheads having fun together and the more this annoys you, the happier we'll be".
