Are you quant or qual?

Just wondering how the forum breaks out. Do you prefer working with analytics and hard numbers or do you prefer the softer skills?

I was misdiagnosed as quant as a kid (good at math, etc.) but realized in college I much preferred working in a social setting, interacting, writing, etc. Not to say I don't enjoy numbers here and there, but sometimes the technical stuff just kills me with tediousness and difficulty.

I think perhaps detail-oriented people are more quant while more impulsive big-picture people are qual, but that's just an observation.

I guess by those standards I qualify as quant. Definitely a mathy person but I hate working with datasets. I like playing with equations and things much more. I do rather enjoy writing though.

I'm a little of both. I come up ENTJ on the Myers-Briggs, every single time I've taken it, over the last 15 years or so.

Curious about your decision to include analytical tasks under quant. I see it as more of a qualitative thing, like analyzing data sets or literature, etc.

I'm a little better at qualitative stuff but I like numbers and math too.

A qual...but always thought to be a quant in school, untill I realised I hate numbers and prefer furren languages. Linguistics of course is a quant/qual combo, so who knows?

Definitely a quantitative type. People routinely make fun of me for finding ways to analyze non-mathematical things in a mathematical way.

That said, I'm the first to say whether or not I'd rely on the math. Really upsets some people when I hand them the analysis they wanted and say "don't bet on it".

Stop being such a nerdy quant! Sometimes, the answer isn't binary :p
